Actuate is a seed stage tech startup that specializes in real-time weapon detection systems and uses the latest AI technologies to turn any security camera into a firearm-detecting smart camera. The company prides itself on using the most advanced data science algorithms to build its detection models and offers one of the lowest false positive rates on the market.
I joined Actuate as a Content Design Intern as one of the two members of the Marketing team and worked in close collaboration with the Chief Technology Officer and Business Development team in bringing Actuate's products and services to the amateur market of AI video surveillance.
I support the team in all facets of the creative process — from design and writing to delivering marketing materials, sales collateral, website graphics, whitepapers, and educational resources in response to client needs.
Working at an early-stage startup presented a remarkably steep learning curve. It was an eye-opening experience that provided valuable insights into the principles of operating efficiently, highlighting the importance of discerning when and where to channel one's energy and efforts. Working directly with the founding team exposed me to the facets of entrepreneurship never seen before and how an evolutionary team of six individuals adeptly navigated chaos and setbacks while progressively implementing structure. My tenure at Actuate was a time of tremendous personal growth, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this rewarding journey.
